V-Bunkers brings electric-hybrid tankers to Singapore harbour
V-Bunkers is the first operator in Singapore to deploy electric-hybrid bunker tankers in the port. The Marine Charge and Marine Dynamo utilise energy storage systems (ESS) comprising lithium-ion batteries and charging technologies that will significantly reduce carbon emissions within Singapore Harbour.
Through a combination of ESS and highly automated Power Management Systems (PMS) the barges can curb greenhouse gas emissions by over 10%.
Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to sustainable fuel solutions
Vitol Bunkers, the wholly-owned bunker arm of Vitol, successfully completed its first biofuel deliveries in Fujairah.
On December 8th and 14th two vessels received B24 VLSFO. The fuel was sourced from its Fujairah-based refinery FRL and blended with regionally-sourced biofuel at VTTI storage facilities.
Certified biofuels are expected to play a key role in helping the hard-to-abate maritime sector to decarbonise and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions on a well-to-wake basis and can actively reduce a vessel’s Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII), and count as a zero CO2 emissions factor once shipping joins the EU’s Emissions Trading System [ETS] in 2024.
